Jafa

Pizza and wine are, without a doubt, two of life’s most simple and enjoyable pleasures and luckily for us, they’re both available in the tastiest of varieties at Southport newbie Jafa.

The sleek little space opened recently bringing new energy to the Ferry Road strip where much-loved wholefood café Blendlove also resides.

It’s intimate and sophisticated, with a light olive green feature wall, natural wood furniture and a marble bench top with huge windows allowing for plenty of natural light (and excellent Insta-snap opportunities).

An open kitchen allows guests to watch the masters at work and with seating around the bar, at the window or along the back wall; there are plenty of dining experiences on offer. Come in for a wine and watch the world go by or bunker down for an entire meal and an entire bottle. The world is your oyster gang.

Owner Michael Hopkinson is no stranger to dishing up next-level meals. A former chef at Nobu in Melbourne, he has cooked around the world and now, lucky for us, has chosen the Gold Coast to set down his roots.

The menu is a mix of both tapas-style dishes and absolutely delicious pizzas and all complimented by a unique and specially curated wine list boasting drops you’re unlikely to find anywhere else.

Starters range from Cauliflower “chicken fried” sumac with sour cream (which is actually one of the most delicious things we’ve ever sampled) and Salt and Pepper Squid with lime aioli.

There are larger meals if that’s your jam but the pizza is where it’s really at.

The Green Goddess has a ricotta base with kale, broccoli, basil and zucchini and, while also being somewhat of a healthy choice, is really very yummy.

Truffled Mushroom is another goodie and Lemon Roasted Chicken should not be missed.

Wash those down with Lino Ramble Shiraz from the Adelaide Hills and you’ve had yourself a good time.

Pretty excited for something of this caliber to grace Ferry Road and we think you shall be too.

Show ‘em some love this week while the roads are clear and it’s easier than ever to get around.
