It’s the leafy green village that seems miles away from the hustle and bustle of the beachside ‘burbs but Mudgeeraba is much closer than you think and well worth a look.

Tree lined streets and cruisy locals ensure welcoming, laidback vibes are everywhere. Throw in some tasty eats, a bit of history and wine or two and you’ve got yourself a winner.

We rounded up nine things locals love about Mudgeeraba because we’re pretty sure you’re gonna love ‘em too.

The Wine Barrel
The name says it all really and as you well know, anything to with wine and you’ve got our attention. Not only is there quite the selection of tasty tipples, there’s tapas dishes like Mexican style pulled pork spring rolls with jalapeno salsa. Yep. The high tables are also wine barrels so that’s fun.

Skirmish Gold Coast
What could be more fun than belting balls of paint at your mates while they squeal and run away? Nothing at all is what. You can have exactly that good time in Mudgeeraba and seriously, what are you waiting for? Go book right now. Pleasure and pain await.

Woodchoppers BBQ Smoke & Grill
If smoked meats are your thing, look no further than Woodchoppers who boast a state of the art meat smoker machine thing that creates the most delightful of flavours and very tender, very moreish meats. Think 12 hour cooked pulled pork burgers and ribs that’d make a vegan think twice.

The Old Teahouse Gallery
Ahh so this place is so pretty and why have we never been here before. Found in a big old Queenslander under the mountain, The Old Teahouse offers one of the most delightful High Teas you’ve ever seen (with tea in actual beautiful teacups) overlooking all the greenery. Plus there’s locally made goodies to peek at and purchase if you so desire.

Red Gum Riding
Horse riding is such a chill thing to do. There really should be more of it. Book yourself a lesson at Red Gum Riding because they treat their horses real nice and are keen for people to understand just how incredible they are. From kids to special needs folks and those who’d just love to experience it, everyone can learn to ride at Red Gum.

Gold Coast War Museum
You might not even be aware this place exists but it does (surprise) and you should definitely check it out. Since 1975 the gallery has housed one of the largest and most diverse collections of military equipment and historical artifacts in Australia. Plus, you can learn a thing or two about your ancestors (which mum would be stoked about) so get going.

The Oak Café
A newbie to the Mudgeeraba scene, The Oak Café is cooking up all the delicious, nutritious goods (including some EPIC cakes and cookies). They’re doing things with a bit of a healthy spin and as you may have seen in a previous story, we ate one of the best breakfasts ever there so don’t miss this one. Cool interior vibes too.

Gumnut Café/Bakery
Oh my god there are donuts and they are A M A Z I N G. Cream filled and caramel topped, we have died and gone to donut heaven. Nothing else matters. Oh except there are also pies and they are so good and everything is made fresh on the premises and by people who care that you are happy with their baked goods. Which you will be.
