3 unmissable Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival events

Five course feasts, fishing and Latin finales.

Ahh food and wine, two of the very things that make life doable on a daily basis. Unsure whose idea it was to create a festival celebrating the loves of our lives but that person deserves their very own festival.

As usual though, we digress. Guess what! The Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival is back this week and let us all eat and drink more than usual in the name of supporting local events.

The festival runs from May 31st to June 3rd and with it comes a myriad of good times worthy of your time and hard earned pennies.

In the interest of consolidation though, here are three good times we believe to be unmissable throughout the festival.

5 Course Tasting Menu
Where better to indulge in delicious wines and tasty eats than at a winery in the Gold Coast hinterland. Nowhere, that’s where. Sirromet Winery is one of our most-loved venues and they certainly do produce a good tipple or two. Their award winning restaurant, Lurleen’s, has recently released a five course-tasting menu, each of which is matched with a Granite belt wine. So you know it’ll be a good time out there. It runs on Thursday the 31st and Friday the 1st of June from 6pm and tickets are $115 per person.
Where: Sirromet Winery, 850-938 Mount Cotton Rd, Mount Cotton

Crab & Oyster Adventure
Just quietly, we’d go to this event for the name alone, but also appreciate that is not enough for everyone. How does catching mud crabs, pumping yabbies’ and enjoying a day on the beautiful Gold Coast waterways sound though? You’ll also feed the pelicans, visit an oyster farm to nab yourself some fresh oysters and then return to a restaurant to enjoy the crabs you caught earlier. What a time. The event runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am – 2.00pm and tickets are $55.
Where: Birds Bay Oyster Farm, Birds Bay Drive, Tweed Heads

Carnàval Finale
Last, unsurprisingly, is the after party and as any true partygoer knows, bulk good times are always found at the end. The closing party will take place at Burleigh venue Mos Desert Clubhouse and will offer all of the South American food, Latin drinks, music and dance, artist stalls, fire twirling and a kids carnival craft corner! It’ll go from 12pm until late so bring your very best partying shoes and get ready for a good time. Tickets are $5.
Where: Mo’s Desert Clubhouse, 6/36 Central Drive, Burleigh Heads
