3 reasons to re-visit Ribs and Rumps

Watermelon mojito jugs. Enough said.

It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of a new restaurant opening on the Coast every five minutes, we get it. However it’s important to remember there are MANY places that have been around a little while now worth a (re)visit. One such place is Ribs and Rumps, located on the waters edge at Marina Mirage.

In the spirit of appreciating ALL the delicious foods on offer around the Coast, we’ve collated the three top reasons to visit Ribs and Rumps.

All of the meats:
As you might expect, Ribs and Rumps specialise in all things meaty. Recently the menu has been updated to include some tasty new treats and of course, all the old favourites. If ribs (and lots of them) are your thing, opt for Ribs, Ribs & Ribs – it’s 1kg of their famous combo, pork, beef and lamb ribs, served with coleslaw and fries, mash or herb and garlic potatoes.

Cocktail jugs:
That’s right friends, never again do you need to choose a measly single serve cocktail. Ribs and Rumps have just introduced said jugs of cocktails and, as you might imagine, they are going gangbusters amongst those who don’t mind a refreshingly delicious beverage (or three). Nothing in the world sounds better than an entire jug filled with Sour Watermelon Mojito right? Right.

The view:
There are very few places on the Coast where you can eat and drink while gazing longingly at giant yachts you’ll never be able to afford. Happily, at Ribs and Rumps, you can do exactly that. The venue overlooks the marina and is usually jam packed with spectacularly shiny vessels bobbing away in the sunshine. If not, you can always just watch over the sparkly water and that’s not so bad either is it.

Sounds like it’s about time for a trip to Marina Mirage doesn’t it gang? See you there for a sunset session.

LOCATION: Marina Mirage, Seaworld Drive, Main Beach
HOURS: 11.30am to 10pm daily.

N3 Tapas Bar

Unfortunately, this restaurant has now closed – but you should stick around and check out these other restaurants!

A laidback garden wonderland awaits in Main Beach.

Fresh greenery abounds, juxtaposed with bright, colourful artwork, a spacious open deck and an impressive bar to rival any other on the Coast.

Offering a vast modern fusion share plate menu, with dishes from around the world, N3 Tapas Bar’s focus is on fresh, local ingredients and it shows.

Each dish offers unique flavour combinations and there’s an abundance of options including street food, small bites, small and large share plates and a banquet menu.

Standouts include:

Kingfish ceviche with Amazonian chillies, tiger’s milk and plantain chips;

Charred butternut squash with pistachio pesto, Persian fetta and pomegranate seeds;

Grass fed eye fillet beef tartare with confit egg yolk and potato crisps and;

The pièce de résistance…Peruvian alpaca ragout with celeriac remoulade, watercress and Tasmanian horseradish.

In the spirit of keeping things interesting, N3 have created a fitting cocktail menu with fresh, garden-inspired beverages.

The Secret Garden perfectly fits the theme – a combination of apple cider, apple liqueur, ginger wine, mint and cucumber – and is delightfully presented in a watering can.

The Bees Knees, Watermelon Martini and Pineapple and Sage Margarita are on the list for the next visit.

Of course, there’s an extensive array of beer and wine on offer along with milkshakes (Fifty Shades of Delight please) and the usual soft drink suspects.

If you’re hungry for something a little bit different, head to N3 Tapas Bar, your tastebuds are sure to thank you.

Bondi Grill’e

In news that will surprise no one, Burleigh is set to welcome another epic eatery to the fray at the end of September. Bondi Grill’e first appeared in Coolangatta in 2015 and, due to popular demand, will swing open their doors for a second time in six short weeks.

The food options are a meaty affair boasting their signature, and super popular, pork, beef and lamb ribs and a selection of gourmet burgers. Famous for perfectly cooked steak, the Burleigh venue will add new cuts of premium Cape Grim Beef to the menu.

The menu will also expand to include entrees, mains, share plates and desserts as well as a full cocktail menu.

In other exciting news, fresh local seafood with a Brazilian twist will also be added to the Burleigh lineup, a first for the Bondi Grill’e boys.

Almost a quarter of the new premises will be dedicated to a bar (hallelujah) that will offer your favourite craft beer, a sweet selection of wine and some delicious new cocktails.

We can see it now, sunny Sunday arvos with the crew, a cocktail in hand and seafood to match the salty sea breeze.

The Coolangatta restaurant came about after a trio of passionate chefs, originally from Brazil, completed their Aussie-wide travels and decided to call the Gold Coast home (where else).

Their plan was to create an intimate venue with a relaxed vibe and community atmosphere and, of course, the good people of Coolangatta made them feel at home.

Now it’s Burleigh’s turn with the new 130-seat venue set to become a firm favourite amongst locals looking for something new to sink their teeth into.

Stay tuned for more details in the weeks to come.
