One of the oldest Rugby League Clubs on the Gold Coast is the Burleigh Heads Rugby League Football Club.

It was originally formed by Mr Bob Singh in 1934 with Rudd Park as its home ground. After a nine year cessation, in 1959 they reformed with Currumbin in hope of producing a stronger Rugby League Club. 1971 saw the club relocate to Pizzey Park, which is still their current home.

The club was founded in an effort to field three competitive grades in the Gold Coast Group 18 competition and to provide a social club for the population of the local area. Both of these factors have worked and today we have one team playing in the Qld State League Competition, an A Grade and a Colts (Under19) side playing in the Mixwell Cup which is based in Brisbane. All home games are played at Pizzey Park on Bob Singh Oval. This is situated at 80 Pacific Ave and right next to the Miami Olympic Pool. Like the Olympians housed and trained at the pool this Club boasts a playing and coaching staff that have been synonymous with Rugby League in Queensland. Names like Ray McCarron, Graeme Ambrose, Laurie Oar, Wayne Homer, Yogi Thompson, Mick Toomey, and Joe Tangatta Toa are still bandied around the Club as probably the best the Coast has seen. Some of these past players now have sons playing and some have been fortunate to see their sons play with NRL Clubs and watch the tradition live on.

This Club is fiercely competitive both on and off the paddock. We try to go and set an example, strive to ensure if we weren’t the best we did the best we could do. In recent times, we won the Qld Cup in 2004 against Brisbane East’s, after 90 odd minutes of football, and extra time being played, Burleigh came away with the trophy. Prior to that we won the Gold Coast Group 18 A Grade comp in 2000, the Qld Cup in 1999, the Group 18 A Grade in 1995 and won the three grades back in 1982.

The Club is a great social venue at any time of the year, wether it be for a cleansing ale or a meal from the bistro or just to come in to say good day and look around. It is not hard to get involved in a conversation about rugby league any time of the day or night any day of the year. This is not to say that you have to listen to this but nowadays you will find someone in the bar, lounge, gaming room or bistro who will keep you company and guide you in the right direction to show you around the Club.

We are very proud of the Club facilities and feel that 2 bob raffle tickets and the footy doubles that had to be sold when the Club was first formed were worth it, to be comforted by the décor and finish of a Club that is second to none on the Gold Coast.
